A Journey of Growth
Shiloh Baptist Church was founded in 1847. The records show that in 1946 the Sunday enrollment was 164 with an average attendance of 104. Mr. Reid Barnette was the Sunday School Director. We could say it took 99 years for Shiloh to average 100 members in Sunday School. In 1961, the enrollment reached 300 people with an average weekly attendance of 215. Mr. John McCorkle was listed as Sunday School Director. During the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s, the Sunday School enrollment fluctuated around 350 with average attendance around 200. It was in 1996 that enrollment reached into the 400’s with 414 and an average attendance of 215. In 2007, Shiloh reached another milestone with 304 as average attendance for the year. Mr. Roger Benton served as Sunday School Director. The Sunday School at Shiloh has shown a steady rate of growth since 1996. We celebrate the average weekly Sunday School attendance of 315 for 2008. Shiloh’s goal is to increase our Sunday School growth, because we believe that small group bible study has much to do with making strong disciples for the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, we pray that you and your family will join us as we continue to study the Bible, reach out to the lost, and care for one another.
